I am a dancer and choreographer based in Portland, OR working in the styles of modern dance and devised theater. My pronouns are she/her; I additionally identify as a fiber artist with a focus on crochet, and moonlight as a server/bartender.
My approach to performance, crafting and hospitality comes from a genuine impulse to cultivate a comfortable, yet entertaining experience for my audience, collaborators, and those who belly up to my bar. Finding, losing, chasing, carving, building, destroying, regenerating a sense of belonging and “home” always seems to find its way into my work.
After graduating from the University of South Florida with a degree in dance performance, I stuffed two suitcases with who knows what and relocated to San Francisco in February 2010, where I would “find myself” for the next 9 years. Those years were rich with collaborations and performances. Notably, I worked with Detour Dance, Project Thrust, Christine Cali, and Christian Burns. My experiences in creating self-produced work is thanks to residencies at The Garage (now SafeHouse for the Arts) and the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. The latter led to a teaching position for two semesters with the year-round students.
In Portland now, I am a founding member and co-leader of the Dance Alumni Society at my alma mater, and am steeped in deep movement and crafting practices while seeking opportunities to collaborate with others in play, inquiry, and performance.
